The Double Naught Spies were formed in the spring of 1996 and include former members of Atomic Boy (Victory Records) and The Visionaries (Wrecking Ball Records). The band includes Rick Hromadka-(guitar/vocals), Ed Jaffe-(bass),Ron Pak-(drums) and Andrew K.-(guitar). A fixture within the LA Pop Scene, the band draws from heavy Beatles/70's rock influences and plays close attention to melody and dynamics.
The summer of 1999’s highly anticipated release of their debut album “The Shoephone Conspiracy†(Cherry Boy Records) with engineer/ co-producer Richard Bosworth-(Dramarama, Wondermints, the Knack) at the helm, has brought the band international notoriety. The CD has been added to a number of college radio playlists, and has been reviewed in Billboard, Amplifier, LA Weekly, Yeah Yeah Yeah , and on many internet sites.
Double Naught Spies also appear in Del-Fi Records International Pop Overthrow compilation and were featured in 1999’s International Pop Overthrow festival in Los Angeles.
The band is also included in a Swedish pop label’s third pop compilation (Yesterday Girl Records), which was released in Europe with the spies song “Ever Sinceâ€.
Songwriter Rick Hromadka has penned tunes for television and film projects like “Breaker High†on Fox, as well as “Sweet Valley Highâ€.
The band was featured on the soundtrack to the Power Rangers movie “Turboâ€, and in “King Cobraâ€, released through Trimark Pictures.
