I feel so blessed! I have a wonderful family, wonderful friends, and a wonderful fiance, all of whom I love very much. There have been some hard times, and some hard happenings, but everything seems to be balancing out nicely, and I can honestly say I've never been happier in my life.
For anyone who hasn't already been deluged by my thoughts and rantings (Erin, Lynn, Julie, Desiree..."Jen, why are you crying?" lol), Brandon and I are engaged, and will be married on October 5, 2007. The fairy tale is as follows:
Once upon a time, in the little township of Redford, I was introduced to a chicken nugget tossing, rasslin lovin', Scottie Pippen adoring, controller throwing, sharp witted stud of a man named Brandon. We got along right from the start, and after a spell of talking to, hanging out with, oh and once I finished whoring the streets of Canada, we began a courtship. We dated for a year or as some would say 3, sharing in all the things that couples do, such as warm hugs, soft caresses, waxed hands, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (with Erin of course!!!!), and while we were together, we talked about the joys of growing old together, and visualized him being an old man, playing basketball with all the neighborhood kids, while I read the Dark Tower (FINALLY!) and watched from the window. Well, as unfortunate things tend to happen in life, we went through a "multiple outside party induced" rough spell, and decided that we might be better off as friends, and we ended up taking some time apart (4 and 1/2 years to be exact). However, while we each went our separate ways and happened upon our own experiences, we were never REALLY all that far apart. We'd talk online, and call one another periodically, and while we would catch up on the happenings of each other's respective life, we'd be faced with the fleeting thoughts of "what if" and "had we done this instead"...you know how it goes. Well, late last year we started talking and hanging out more often and we realized that there was still that special something between us...that feeling of being in the right place, at the right time...and feeling incomplete when we weren't in each other's company. Having both struggled to be happy in and with our past relationships, we decided to take advantage of the situation, and try to be happy...together. Boy! If only we'd done that a few years ago!!!!! Seriously though, the time apart was a really good thing for both of us, as it gave us both the time to experience life without one another, and we have found a totally new level of respect for one another, and we cherish so much more, how life is when we are together. We were once lost, but now are found...and we will never let go again! ~He is my soul mate~
As for the tale of my best friend Erin....thats a whole story in itself! Need time to recharge first ;)
Pet lover! I currently have 5 kitties. You may think that seems like a lot, but thats nothing! My mom practically raised us in the Durnen/Cole/Taylor/Knox (as respective relations came and went, mind you) personal petting zoo. :) It was not uncommon to see squirrels, chickens (Lucy), dogs and cats of course, ferrets, and then there was Citgo the Pigeon. Don't know what made my mom such the petitarian (?), but it kinda rubbed off on me. Fortunately the craziness didn't and I have been able to limit myself--for the most part hehehe. I did have as many as 17 kitties living with me at one point--partly due to "frisky" little kitties, and partly due to me being a pushover. I considered myself one of the lucky ones that I managed to find homes for all three litters of kittens, and that I could afford to eventually take all my adult cats to the vet and have every single one fixed. NEVER AGAIN I tell ya! I wish I liked people as much as I do animals--but then again, its probably best that I don't. I'm not sure how many people I could stand living under my roof ;)
I love my bubby!
