I am here for Friends

About Me

I feel so blessed! I have a wonderful family, wonderful friends, and a wonderful fiance, all of whom I love very much. There have been some hard times, and some hard happenings, but everything seems to be balancing out nicely, and I can honestly say I've never been happier in my life.
For anyone who hasn't already been deluged by my thoughts and rantings (Erin, Lynn, Julie, Desiree..."Jen, why are you crying?" lol), Brandon and I are engaged, and will be married on October 5, 2007. The fairy tale is as follows:
Once upon a time, in the little township of Redford, I was introduced to a chicken nugget tossing, rasslin lovin', Scottie Pippen adoring, controller throwing, sharp witted stud of a man named Brandon. We got along right from the start, and after a spell of talking to, hanging out with, oh and once I finished whoring the streets of Canada, we began a courtship. We dated for a year or as some would say 3, sharing in all the things that couples do, such as warm hugs, soft caresses, waxed hands, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame (with Erin of course!!!!), and while we were together, we talked about the joys of growing old together, and visualized him being an old man, playing basketball with all the neighborhood kids, while I read the Dark Tower (FINALLY!) and watched from the window. Well, as unfortunate things tend to happen in life, we went through a "multiple outside party induced" rough spell, and decided that we might be better off as friends, and we ended up taking some time apart (4 and 1/2 years to be exact). However, while we each went our separate ways and happened upon our own experiences, we were never REALLY all that far apart. We'd talk online, and call one another periodically, and while we would catch up on the happenings of each other's respective life, we'd be faced with the fleeting thoughts of "what if" and "had we done this instead"...you know how it goes. Well, late last year we started talking and hanging out more often and we realized that there was still that special something between us...that feeling of being in the right place, at the right time...and feeling incomplete when we weren't in each other's company. Having both struggled to be happy in and with our past relationships, we decided to take advantage of the situation, and try to be happy...together. Boy! If only we'd done that a few years ago!!!!! Seriously though, the time apart was a really good thing for both of us, as it gave us both the time to experience life without one another, and we have found a totally new level of respect for one another, and we cherish so much more, how life is when we are together. We were once lost, but now are found...and we will never let go again! ~He is my soul mate~
As for the tale of my best friend Erin....thats a whole story in itself! Need time to recharge first ;)

Pet lover! I currently have 5 kitties. You may think that seems like a lot, but thats nothing! My mom practically raised us in the Durnen/Cole/Taylor/Knox (as respective relations came and went, mind you) personal petting zoo. :) It was not uncommon to see squirrels, chickens (Lucy), dogs and cats of course, ferrets, and then there was Citgo the Pigeon. Don't know what made my mom such the petitarian (?), but it kinda rubbed off on me. Fortunately the craziness didn't and I have been able to limit myself--for the most part hehehe. I did have as many as 17 kitties living with me at one point--partly due to "frisky" little kitties, and partly due to me being a pushover. I considered myself one of the lucky ones that I managed to find homes for all three litters of kittens, and that I could afford to eventually take all my adult cats to the vet and have every single one fixed. NEVER AGAIN I tell ya! I wish I liked people as much as I do animals--but then again, its probably best that I don't. I'm not sure how many people I could stand living under my roof ;)
I love my bubby!

My Interests

Alone time activities for me include planning (starting Tuesday, dammit!) to work out , playing on the net, reading, listening to music, watching old, already watched hundreds of times movies (Road Trip), warm baths, and sometimes Zuma. With others, I am into new and/or old movies, concerts, musicals, dancing with mratg, soon to be the belle of ballroom (behind boska of course! lmao), games with the family, bowling and pool, shooting darts (I am not a cheater), getting my butt kicked at putt putt, kicking butt with my hot air balloon, IM'ing with boska about gs, tj, mr, db and gb, ti, odo, d cubed, TS AND SCEB, etc...(omg, I can't believe I just sent that to...oops), morning or evening rendesvouz' just for a smile, and sitting around having wonderful conversations--for hours--in the car--over the phone--laying in bed--via IM or texting--wonderful : )=)
**I also enjoy whoring the urls of MySpace--much larger population than that of Canada!** hehehe

I'd like to meet:

my mom and grandma--I really hope to meet back up with them someday

Music:

Barenaked Ladies, Sarah McLachlan, U2, Live, 311, Johnny Cash, STP, Velvet Revolver, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Audioslave, TOOL, A Perfect Circle, REM (Michael Stipe--my ex lol--sorry for breaking your heart) hmmm...thats about all, oh and Neil Diamond of course!--anything else, I just change the station til I find one of the above. Proves to be an interesting task at times, hehe. There is one song that I simply can NOT get out of my head...Without You--Motley Crue. Its been stuck for days...wonder why?

Movies:

Favorites are generally horror or comedy, although I am leaning toward dramas a lot more than I used to. I do NOT cry during movies--and that does not make me mean and heartless! ;) View Askew is great! I adore Kevin Smith--Can't get over how much the man dotes on his wife. That is so what I want one day hehehe ;) I'd like the chance to meet Jason Lee to find out two things: if he really is as personable as he seems (usually), and why Pilot Inspektor? poor kid!

Television:

**Current**--Nip/Tuck (Beauty is a curse on the world)(no more til next frickin fall!), Lost (Hurley--Didn't see that coming hehe), 24 (WWJBD), My Name is Earl (Carson Daly is the man!), and oh yes, I can't forgot about my newfound passion for Family Guy (plutonium!), The War at Home (why is it that the thought of my son being gay is depressing, but the thought of him being someone's housewife isn't?)
**In Syndication**--Roseanne, Saved By the Bell (AC with the rockin moves and the godawful apparel!), 90210 (Matt loves Kelly loves Dylan loves Gina loves David loves Donna loves Noah, and so on....), Dawson's Creek (I always rooted for Pacey, even when the triangle became a square....), Threes Company, Sanford & Son (Elizabeth...), Frasier, Friends, Just Shoot Me
**Future**--I get the impression that there's lots of tv show watching to be done. Taking all the dvd sets and collectively whipping through them, one by one. Its cool--just kick back, cuddle up, and get comfy for some quality down time :)
**Retro**--Oh, where to begin? Scooby (Rooby Rooby Roo, and bastard Scrappy!), Smurfs (Handy was just so smurfing smurfy!...), Jetsons, Punky Brewster (Cherry Soda), He-Man (Orko), She-Ra, Thundercats, The Honeymooners, Benny Hill (he's a provert hehe), Beverly Hills Teens (Troy...ahhh, and Chester the dork whiz), The Archies (will it be Betty or Veronica?), Transformers (Optimus Prime), X-Men, GI Joe (and knowing is half the battle;) ), Dukes of Hazzard, The A-Team, Jem (Rio was dreamy with his purple hair lol), and soo many others...
**Honorary mention** Never thought I'd admit it...wrestling...for my honey. Since I have started watching it with him again, and joined the "Sunday Night losers club", it's really not that bad...well WWE has awful storylines...but thats another story...props to Edwar for having the balls to make a mockery of himself out in public, in the name of the "sport" ;)

Books:

The ones with pages in them. With type on the pages. Usually narratives of some sort with a beginning, middle and end. I like to read all kinds of stuff. It all started with the lame Laffy Taffy jokes.....and Bazooka Joe comic strips :) Some of my favs are Stephen King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, John Saul, VC Andrews....Albert Camus--currently stalking Stephanie Plum =)

Heroes:

My family and friends. Everyone has a story to tell. Hope some have happy endings--too many don't.
