From your true and full potential. The system we are born into is fundamentally flawed. It relies on a system of material supply and demand that needs to be perpetually increasing. It cannot last. Neither can our way of thinking. We cannot live just to feed our emotional addictions. You are not who somebody else says you are. We need to realize where we come from, who we are, why we are here. Do you know? Can you know? Yes, you do. What defines you? Your limitations. But, your limitations are only your potential.As bands go, there would be one word to describe Jon Doe - "Intense". The music pushes past your ear drum and into your brain blowing back the curtains hiding the listeners need to see more. The potential of where the inspiration of music can take you. The feeling you can get only from being taken out of your comfort zone. With blistering and blindsiding complexity the songs manifest themselves as something that cannot be ignored.The factors equating to the originality of Jon Doe is due to the inspiration of other bands and the individual techniques of its members. One of the major shaping elements comes from their drop F tuning and the guitarist embellished individual flair, racing up and down the neck to achieve a relentless contrast of piercing highs and devastating lows. And with the bass utilizing many techniques it also drastically shapes the sonic ensemble. The drums, whilst keeping the back-bone and the pace of the music, is given the task of punctuating the intricate subtleties as the song weaves in and around itself. The vocals, probably the least subtle element adding itself to the cacophony. Passionate and deafening, they may come across as pure aggression but in reality, there is just as much of any other emotion put forward into the defiant, eloquent, abrasive, thoughtful, sometimes incomprehensible lyrics.Each member brings to this band a love, a drive, a spirit, a soul, a life, an overwhelming need to push its limits. What are limits if not your potential? Which brings us to the name. Colloquially "Jon Doe" means the body of an unidentifiable deceased human being. At first thought it conjures up images of spooky morgues and white sheets and toe tags, but this is not what it means to the band. Would a corpse by any other name smell just as sweet? If Jon Doe is a body then its members are its soul. They are its life.Live, the band brings as much intensity and energy to the performance as the songs themselves. Fuelled by the mayhem and chaos of the sonic onslaught, they deliver a frenetic approach to capture their audiences attention with a dominant and dramatic presence.Shying away from present trends to envisage a path that is truly there own. The band prides themselves in giving listeners not what they want, but what they need to hear.
