Kurse (aka Rocky Good) is an independent Hip-Hop artist that was born on the South side of Chicago, and spent his early childhood years in a town called Bolingbrook, located right outside of the city. He's currently working on his 4th independent release titled "INSOMNIA" hosted by Evolution Entertainments, DJ Mixxx Massacre Mike under the Anger Manij'ment Entertainment Inc. label. But is also piecing together another side project/album called "The Honest Truth". His three previous indie releases were "The Recipe 4 Disaster" (2006), "The Shattered Mind" (2007) and as of most recent, "Negative Intention" (2008). At a younger age, Kurse grew up a fan of classic Hip-Hop artists such as 2Pac, Slick Rick & Heavy D. Shortly after serving a light jail sentencing in 2001, Kurse got more involved into the writing of poetry and short songs and later decided to pursue his hobby on a more serious and professional level. Introduced by a cousin, Kurse recorded his very first track in the studios of County House Records in Chicago, but immediately after moved on to do work with a small Indie label called Artein Records. After a rough 6 months over at Artein, Kurse finally left the small label and invested his time and money on his own equipment and educating himself in sound engineering as well as mixing, slowly building up his own lab piece by piece and creating a more polished name for himself. In late 2005 Kurse had his own small studio put together and created a small underground movement called "Anger Manij'ment Entertainment" that swiftly became popular with locals. Many shows, collabs, songs and equipment upgrades later...Kurse finally left the underground scene in Feburary of 2008 and Incorporated Anger Manij'ment into a small business based out of Illinois in order to be chalked up with the rest of the independent labels in the industry, also recreating himself as a Label Owner and Boss for the first time. Even though A.M.E. Inc is a small label, it's now currently the home of seven other indie artists and continues to grow in numbers and popularity.
The reason behind the name KURSE ?
The name "Kurse" was actually a joke that came to surface while I was locked up. I used to talk to my Godson's mother a few times a week over the payphone, with hopes to pass the time while I was locked up, and one of the things I mentioned to her was that I was having a real shitty month right before I got thrown into county. I told her, "I must be hexed or cursed or sumthin!" And that nobody else seems to have as much bad luck fall upon them all at once quite like I do! Well shortly after that conversation...my Godsons mom started calling me Mr. Cursed. Even after I was out, the name just sort-of stuck and once I got into music, no other name could describe me better than the one my Godson's mom tagged me with. After a while the "Mr." was dropped, and the "ed" at the end was kicked-aside cause it was too "past tense". And for extra spice, I flipped the "C" for a "K" and poof...the 'Kurse' moniker was born.
Kurse currently resides in the Joliet area, where he has his own studio and accepts private appointments for artists looking to record in his lab, and upgrade their sound. Not yet open for the public, Kurse is more focused on making music that can be put into circulation, and over-seeing the projects that his label-mates work on.
