Billy Wood has been playing guitar since he was 12 years old. He started out playing old-time country with his neighbors. In high school as a teenager he began taking lessons on lead guitar from Dean King. Dean King is a fabulous musician and recording engineer in the Lynchburg VA area! At 19 years old Billy met Leroy Wingo and was invited to play at his church with him, Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel in downtown Lynchburg VA. Billy was able to hone his lead skills while at the same time enjoy all types of music styles with Leroy and the members of Jericho. Playing music for God was very important to Billy and still is. Billy also began playing in the band, Shade of Blue, with his cousin, Wally Layne and friend, Mike Wright. They played a few small clubs and venues. Billy was married in 1996 and stopped playing the guitar in public for a number of years. He would continue to play with Jericho on occasion and still does about once a year or so. In 2003 Billy began playing music with the band, CODE 11. This group was successful through 2008 at playing local gigs and venues. Billy took up lead guitar, backing vocals, and the entire website odds and ends. The group ended abruptly in October of 2008 when the bass player quit and the lead vocalist decided to go a different direction. Billy is remaining open minded about playing with a new or existing group. He will also be writing and recording his own music soon.
