About Me

My name is Ivette. I've been known to be highly charismatic, endearing, altruistic, lively and passionate.. but while still a young girl, I don't like making any self-proclaimed facts about myself because day to day I continue to grow and become a better person. The few things I know I will always have as a part of me are my love for music, art, writing and the beauty of nature; there's simply just nothing as captivating as the deep emotion a genuine heart is always swayed by. One of my favorite poets once said: "Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears." This man was Edgar Allen Poe :)
I would generally like to meet other musicians, artists of any kind, writers, humanists, spiritualists, dreamers; those who recognize and fight against the injustice in the world; and anyone with purity, innocence, and hope still dangling within against all odds -- people of this sort, mostly only because the irrational hatred and intolerance in the world is something I don't like focusing on. I'd much rather paint fire across the skyline, lay beneathe a freezing moon, or wake up with a dance of december souls :D
I would however like to clarify that as closed-minded as this sounds, I have NO interest whatsoever in talking to anyone who lives with the "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" attitude. First off, I'm straight-edge, and second, there are much better things in life besides partying and such debaucheries. I want innnovation and inspiration, not the draggy and soulless way too many carry their lives with. I'm also currently single and not expecting that to change.

Obviously, a lot of metal. Mostly I listen to black, doom, power, viking, folk, etc. I do however hateanything that sounds like it's only purpose is to be "brutal", which includes all grindcore, and 70% of death metal. I payattention to musical composition, and the atmosphere set up by the artists behind the music. Not how fast a blast beat is, nor howdeadly your growling/pig-squeals sound. Music is an art, and like all other forms of self-expression, it'll become meaningless if it's just forsale. I take the message behind music very literally, even if my opinions offend. Just know I am respecting and understanding of othertastes, and I'm not the type to not socialize with someone who doesn't like the same music, that's just beingclosed-minded.
As for myself being a musician, I play keys, flute, clarinet, guitar, harp, and dulcimere. But granted I'm not superwoman, lately I've been giving my focus towards my keys, flute and my singing. I'm a mezzo-soprano/lyric soprano with a 2.5 octave range, and recordings (though rather outdated -- new ones soon to come) can be found here . Out of all that I do, I'd have to admit I love singing the most :)

I'm not very educated in films. I barely have time to get the chance to watch many films, and I do know I'm missing out on a lot. Though it's obvious, I love anything epic, funny, endearing, or epic. Did I mention epic?... :D

Television:

Planet Earth
the Discovery channel in general
TLC

Jimmy Neutron
Spongebob Squarepants
Paranoia Agent
Invader Zim
Powerpuff Girls
anything on the Animal Channel
anything on the Science Channel
the History Channel

I usually just don't bother wasting my time with television, but I love laughing, I have a great sense of humor (or so I think?), so if I ever do become a couch potatoe, I'm a smiling couch potatoe.

Books:

the Hobbit + LOTR
The Silmarillion
The Book(s) of Lost Tales
Beowulf
A Midsummer Night's Dream
East of Eden
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

books on how to speak Italian :)
World History books
books in Spanish
Magazines
Harry Potter, for lack of originality

And waaay too much to remember. I do wish I had more time to read, though :(

Oh, exquisite star in the passionate darkness..

I've joined the bandwagon on this one because I really like the idea behind it. Rules:1) List things you want to say to people, but never will.2) Don't say who they are.3) Never discuss it.1. Whatever...
