About Me

> ..I am a professional drummer in the Dallas, Tx area. I am currently playin' what is refered to as "Texas music" which in other parts of ther world is known as country music. I am currently playing for Max Stalling who is probably the best of the Texas singer/songwriter's. The difference in Texas music is the emphasis is almost totally on the lyrics and the music itself uses more acoustic instruments. A lot of the sound is Mexican influenced. Good stuff. I also work with saxophonist Johnny Reno who has worked with Joe Ely, Chris Issac and written many soundtracks(Spy Kids, Sin City,Melrose Place , etc.). He has released many records and has toured the country extensively. I am also a private drum instructor and have anywhere from 10-15 students at any given time. I teach all ages but mostly younger kids(10-13 trs. old). I am a songwriter as well, having many of my songs appear in movies and record, writing mostly on guitar. This is probably my favorite thing to do. Each song is like a child and giving birth to them is sometimes not easy but always worth the effort. As far as drums go, I am a vintage drum guy(old). I play a couple of different Slingerland Radio King sets from the 30's/40's. Snare drums are always Ludwig. I use Zildjian cymbals and I endorse Vic Firth drum sticks. Go to their website www.vicfirth.com and check out my profile. I also have started using The Kelly Shu which is a horseshoe shaped mounting system for internally mounted bass drum microphones. The mic fits on the "Shu" and is suspended by a series of bungee type cords. The mount stays in place w/out rattles. Highly recommend! I also have a web site www.jeffhowe.com that shows my comings and goings. Thanks for looking and have a great day!
