The Fading Captains

About Me

San Diego's best GBV cover band. No wait, Sand Diego's only GBV cover band! Our goals are simple, we would like to spread this great music to the people and the places that may have never heard it. Now that the band Guided By Voices is no longer, we feel someone should step up and continue to promote one of the truly great independent artists of our generation (and have a great time doing it!) GBV embodied all that is good about music and the creative spirit with disregard to selling albums or conforming to the commercial formulas dictated by the music industry. They were a truly independent band, thriving on word of mouth, an electrifying and thoroughly entertaining live show and a loyal fan base as means to survive. It is an absolute shame and a travesty that a songwriter such as Bob Pollard can live in relative obscurity while a half-wit like Ashlee Simpson can have the number one album in the country. Now don't you feel bad?? But together, with your help, we can make a difference and let relevant artists know that their work is revered and appreciated! Thank you.
