Nautical Mile

About Me

Nautical Mile began in the year 2000. It's a collaboration between 2 dudes, who both initially had the idea that they would mess around with some guitars and stuff and make minimalist cassette recordings and basically have a good time being a fake band. Then they played a show. Then they cancelled a show. Now they don't play shows. Nautical Mile have no technical musical skill or knowledge, though one member once took some guitar lessons. Nautical Mile don't have much fancy equipment. Nautical Mile once had a cool effects pedal that made fucked up sounds, but it broke for good. Nautical Mile completed an album in 2004 entitled "Lost At Sea". That album was self-produced and distributed for free to people, as well as being left in random cut-out bins at indie record shops. Perhaps you got one? Most of that album is available on-line for free now, except for the one track that was a cover, and the other track that had really horrible sound levels. Those are only on the cd version.Nautical Mile have been working on new material. We are working towards our goal of releasing a record. We may also have an LP. If you are an indie lable who are smitten with us, by all means let us know. We are also looking to possibly self-release more records in the coming years.Nautical Mile continues to work within the bounds of their own technical limitations, and to experiment with what is possible, to toy with conceptions of what makes a band a "band" and to investigate what sound can mean for us in our lives. Accidents just waiting to happen! Nothing is able to be replicated!Singularity! Mutation! Experimentation! We are Nautical Mile. We're not even a fucking band. We theorize our own existence. And existence takes place right-at the everyday, being-there. Whatever sense that makes is up to us... So there! Aside from that, we are an intermittent and ongoing experiment of unknown origin and aim. ************* ***** We're working to figure this all out and to catch up to ourselves in the future, when our grand aspirations meet reality in a momentous explosion of sonic chaos and/or bliss. ********
