DA STORY BEGINS...Born into rich, privileged chaos, forged by the hard streets of the quaint and affluent Connecticut shoreline, and tempered by the ravages of strong parental support and college educations, the members of ViCTimize are battle-proven soldiers on this field of upper-class suburban savagery.
Each one a long time member and eventual drop-out of the CTHC scene, ViCTimize assault the listener with fast and ferocious, slow and chunky, ultra-formulaic tough-guy hardcore. From the moment the listener hears the angst ridden voice of Beefsteak scream "We come to smash," to the twin fury of guitarists Jefftimize and Marc Of-No-Emo, to the blasting rhythm section of Ryan Got-A-CTHC-Tattoo (drums) and Surly Ghordo (bass), the band paints a picture of Connecticut hardcore at it's finest - the glory of 1995/96. "I sure did have a lot of 25 Ta Life shirts," says Beefsteak. "I remember one said 'Hardcore Pride 95'. It was hard, yo."
The band came together from the ashes of several area bands, like False Hope, Sacriphant, Avenger of Awry, Godsburn, Stab You In The Head, Monkey Knife-Fight, and Ghordo Peforms the Hits of TV's Dawson's Creek.
"Some of them bands wasn't that tough," explains Marc. "But now, we's got that hard edge. Beefsteak even got his convict number tattooed on he lip, from when he was locked up for cuttin' the tags off mattresses."
"Lock up is tough," Beefsteak adds. "It hardens you, makes you cold. You had to be back by 9:00pm every night, or they took away ping-pong in the rec lounge. I hated them screws fo dat shit. I couldn't go to shows for like 4 years."
When asked what makes hardcore so important to them, the band grows silent, contemplating. "Jeff gots a big puffy vest," concludes Beefsteak.
"Yo, dat shit is hot!" Adds Ghordo.
Needless to say, watch out for ViCTimize this summer, swinging an "8 Ball In A Sock" somewhere near you.
