In this day and age of reality music shows dictating who the real talent is and who we should all listen to (come on…we’ve all seen at least one episode of America’s Next Top Whatever), it has become increasingly rare to find a band striving to create a complete album of substance rather than just one hit song. There was a time and place where record labels wanted bands to build and create lasting music…to grow from one recording to the next…to improve as musicians and performers. Dept. of Energy’s second full length release “Faster†is a clear example that this belief still exists.
"Faster" is a remarkable album created with urgency and passion that touches on subjects of love, loss, and the importance of truth. The songs can easily be classified individually as progressive pop masterpieces, however the real strength comes in the form of the album as a whole. “Faster†as a complete work combines unquestionable songwriting ability with indisputable musicianship and forces listeners to take notice to the fact that Dept. of Energy is more than just a band out of Seattle…they are a great band out of Seattle.
