About Me

I like to paint, on canvas...not like interior walls and ceilings! The Art Institute in Chicago is a place I wish I could spend more time at, or just taking the train to the city to walk around, going to the different festivals, like Taste of Chicago or Blues Fest, Navy Pier, etc. I love to go to different forest preserves and just hike around in the woods, or sit by a creek and sketch, and just reflect on all of God's creations-it amazes me all the time. I like to play the harmonica, I'm self taught, which doesn't say too much...I like to sing too, but have been banned from publicly doing so! I have played my harmonica with a few "unknown" bands at a cool cafe I use to run. I would love to get the chance to play with Neil Young...big dreamer!!! I love to laugh and make people laugh, the world is a much kinder place to live in with laughter in it. I drove a 66 Chevelle up until 2006, needed some/alot of body work, but I loved my car! I miss it. Someday, I'll get another, don't really care to drive a car from the last 3 decades, but for the sake of transportation, I just bought a new to me but used Chevy Blazer 4 x 4...yep I'm a Chevy girl! I have two great daughters 23 & 21, who are as much as my best friends as they are my kids, one got married this last summer and now I have a great son-in-law, the other just got engaged Christmas Eve to his brother, who will be another great son-in-law! I love to travel, although I hate to fly, but I do. Road trips are great, I love to camp. I have been to almost every state in the U.S., Bahamas, Canada and Mexico. My favorite places are: Maine, California, North Carolina, Colorado, Wyoming, the Dakotas, New Mexico and Florida. I would love to go to Alaska, almost had the chance to rent the house that's owned and manned by the US Coast Guard (Marshall Point Light House in Maine)...my name was on the waiting list, but it, along with my address and phone # changed, so I lost that opportunity...ok though, as I get older, winter time in the far south sound good to me! Summer and fall are my favorite seasons, summer could be at least 9 months, but I do love snow and snow shoeing, ice skating but hate being cold!.. The slide show you see above is of photos taken in a poverty stricken area of Mexico. Take Puerto Vallarta, Mexico...no it's not just a beautiful resort area of Mexico, but hidden amongst it's beauty lies a poverty stricken area. Hard to believe that while so many are enjoying the sun, beaches, fine dining and plush accomodations, just minutes away there are people living in shacks and getting their food from the dump, yep all the stuff that gets thrown out from the resorts garbage. The lack of basic human needs...like food and shelter, is sadly more wide spread than most of us know. This is the place for our first of many mission trips we plan to go on. We will spend time helping feed and clothe the hungry, and share the Hope of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the continuing building process of a local church. If you want to help us, help them please contact me on myspace, via message or go to www.sentbyravensvcf.com and leave a message for Katie on the Youth Group email link. Soon the website will have a page that explains more and will also have buttons for donations! All donations are tax deductable and Sent By Ravens will provide a 501c tax reciept. I know I am very excited to go...I have been so blessed to have a nice home, decent job, food, clothing, travel and all the comforts that those things bring...so easy to take it for granted, easy to be blind.
