I'd like to meet:
Anyone with similar interests or work around the country.
Music:
Running a Rock Karaoke Business for a living, then Rock Music will not be much of a surprise. Classic Rock and 80's/90's Bands were mainly all I knew. Basically anything my elder brothers listened too as I was growing up.
Having run the company for a while now, I've gotten to know and appreciate more of the modern bands anything that you find in my Rock Karaoke books is what I'm into now.
On the other hand, my father listened to Country Music as we grew up, so I will admit that I am a fan of some Country Rock Artists too. Thankfully people like Kid Rock and Johnny Cash make this a bit more acceptible.
Movies:
Having studied Film Production I have seen loads of work by different Directors.
Hitchcock was one of the first I really got into. You have to check out "ROPE" for one of the best and most unsettling movies ever. "Vertigo" and "Rear Window" are two other favourites.
I always loved Tim Burtons' work, long before it became fashionable to own anything with Jack Skellington on it. Having studied German expressionist films like "The Cabinet of Dr Caligari" and "Nosferatu", I could see his inspiration and appreciate it better.
I will also admit to being a bit of a sci-fi geek, and propbably knowing far too much on the Genre too be healthy.
But we all have our dark secrets.
Television:
Once again have to admit Sci-Fi. Loving the new Battlestar Gallactica, Lost, and ofcourse Firefly. The old classics are still as good though. And ofcourse looking forward to David Tennant as Dr Who.
Old 80's TV Classics. Have built up a great collection of Dogtanian, Count Duckula, Ulysses 31, Inspector Gadget etc on DVD.
Like Crime stuff as well. C.S.I, The Shield, Law and Order, anything to make you think about the plot.
Books:
Like most of the world, I quite liked the Dan Brown books. will be interesting to see the film and how Tom Hanks does.
Bob Shaw is a Northern Irish Sci-Fi writer who has written some of the best Sci-Fi work I've ever read. Check out "Other Days Other Eyes" "Orbitsville" and "Medussa's Children".
Katherine Kerr wrote the "Deverry" series of books which are some of the most enjoyable if complex Fantasy books ever.
Heroes:
Any of the Directors mentioned above, as well as many of the bands, authors and artists I like. Anyone with the confidence to be themselves no matter what, and those who manage to make a living out of something they love.
