MONKEY CHILD

About Me

MONKEY CHILD is a rock band playing music written by their founder Chuck Clawson and by keyboardist Dave Bauer. Monkey Child is also an aggressively indie songwriter collaboration that keeps it's chops sharp playing both originals and covers for clubs and private events around Colorado. Bassist and singer Mark Byrd lends his influence on arrangements and brings exceptionally solid licks on the p-bass. MONKEY CHILD's sound has been compared to John Hiatt, John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Guster, Van Morrison and Ryan Adams.

We call what we do alt.roots, but that's our name for it. We've been labeled heartland, Americana, and pop-rock. Whatever it is, we write, play, and produce it ourselves. This is a long-lived project - we've been working together over five years now and plan to continue. Portions of our next album are already recorded. Dave and Chuck continue to write new material, and we continue to gig frequently.

Monkey Child's debut CD, "The Long Shot", was recently released by Obsolete Records, and can be purchased for $10 at any of our live shows, or for $12 at our CD Baby page.

Being on the radio

Being an indie band of "older guys" from Denver, we don't have any real aspirations of making it big.  Success, if we're lucky, might be defined in smaller terms - placing a song in a f...
