About Me

Bergträumer,... part mountain nut, part bike nut... nodab... as in no dabbing,... ie not touching your feet to the ground while riding on anything with 2 wheels. ~~~Pope of- "The Church of the Sweetride" ~~~~Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul. ~~~~There are those who would say there's something pathological about the need to ride, and they're probably on to something. I'd wager though that most of the society-approved compulsions leave deeper scars in the psyche than a need to ride bicycles or motorcycles. Riding allows a few moments of clarity away from an otherwise chaotic world. Yeah,... I like to ride. Bikes made of steel. Steel is real. I started young and it keeps me young, with motors or better yet without, it's all good when you're "in"... the ride. Amen.~~~Mountains are the other vital need for my existence, especially the alps of Austria. My body needs to be above the clouds and tree line as much as possible, and the older I get the more important this becomes. The solitude afforded by trekking in the mountains allows myself to notice--and more importantly appreciate—the life that surrounds us. There are people who NEED to be in the mountains. I am one of them. Whether on foot or by 2 wheels, my soul will ALWAYS be in the mountains. Veil spass am berg. BERG HEIL !! ~~~I enjoy regular large doses of alpineglow with long distances and time away from the ever present ratrace of modern society, aiming for a more simple existence. ~~~Preparing one’s self and family for an uncertain future. Recently researching views on global economic trends and environmental crises. It does'nt look good kids. I'm heading for the hills...the tall pointy ones... der berg ruft !!!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

the asshole who managed to run over Ian Hibell,74, a long-distance cyclist. In the course of his 40-year travelling life he went the equivalent of ten times round the equator, covering 6,000 miles or so a year. He became the first man to cycle the Darien Gap in Panama, and the first to cycle from the top to the bottom of the American continent. He went from Norway to the Cape of Good Hope and from Bangkok to Vladivostok, wheeling or walking every inch of the way. Escaping once from spear-throwing Turkana in northern Kenya, He crossed China from north to south—in 2006, at 72—~~~ Aging adventurers deserve a better exit than than getting mowed down and killed by a hit and run driver. Aprox. 250,000 miles ended by some fool in a car.Damn. Yeah,... I bet alot of people would like to "meet" that cager. ~~~ I would also like to meet any remaining oldtimers who still ride the old beemers and/or hike/climb mountains, for they are truly a breed apart. ~~~ I am a health minded, physically active, decent, very low drama, honest person seeking to meet the same. Plain and simple,... hoping to keep it plain and simple. ~~~ I would also really like to meet anyone who takes life serious enough to know its not worth going thru the motions unless you pursue your work, your recreations, and your goals with true passion, otherwise we would just be dragging along burning up time when we all know,"nobody gets out alive". ~~~ Anyone who is able to laugh at lifes absurdities, while maintaining a level head when life gets serious. Must be able to enjoy hard physical exertion, both in work and play and are health minded, NO smokers.~~~ Anyone who has a keen understanding of the most important, non-materialistic ideals in life such as family, health, friends, and time well spent with a significant other. ~~~ Anyone who is a bicycling and hiking nutcase would be a plus. ~~~ Anyone who is a smart cookie with a sense of humor that wants to meet like minded people and share the rest of "the path before us." ~~~ Namasté ~~~
