SJS originated in 2002, in Houston, TX, where vocalist James Rivera is based out of. He later formed another chapter of the band with musicians from Tampa, FL, during a time period when Rivera had relocated to the area. Although Rivera has since returned to Houston, the overwhelming response to SJS in the Florida market compelled Rivera to come back to the state for select performances with the locally based SJS musicians. Rivera continues to perform in various U.S. regions with his tribute act during time periods when he is on break from recording or touring with his original act, HELSTAR.
