About Me

MAURO CALDERON ( Mexican Tenor) Has devoted himself to classical music for the last two decades becoming one of the most talented tenors and maybe the most versatile voice in Mexico performing in important halls. The art of his singing, developed under the supervision of prestigious teachers in Mexico, has allowed him to sing in places out of Mexico, the United States, Italy and South America. As a member of the Bellas Artes soloists he has sung roles in operas La Boheme, and Elixir d'amore. He has sung with the main Orchestras around Mexico. the following are the more meaningful to him: the First Prize of the New talent of Mexico 1990; the First Prize for his interpretation of the Serenade for tenor, horn and stings orchestra of Benjamin Britten accompanied by the Bellas Artes Chamber Orchestra and the Prize AGUSTIN LARA 2004 IN L.A. Besides his formal music studies and career, Mauro Calderón has also being very close to popular music in its different aspects such as jazz, ballad and ranchera. He had recorded different kind of CD's, more that 14, such as "Piano Voz y Sentimiento" where we can hear a beautiful interpretation of Júrame of Maria Greever and accompanied by the most talented Brazilian pianist César Camargo Mariano; the HOMAGE TO MARIO TALAVERA with the polish pianist Józef Olechowski. HOMAGE TO AGUSTIN LARA; MEXICAN WALTZES, LATIN TENORS, ETC. Some of the most important events Mauro has been part of are: The Millennium Acapulco Festival, the Poliforum Cultural Siqueiros series, in the Metropolitan Theatre with the Acapulco Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Luis Cobos, in the Basilica de Guadalupe on the Americas Virgins celebration day. For the last five years Mauro has been performing several times each year in important cities in USA: Houston, Miami, Fresno, Cal., Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hawaii among others; and in Rome,Italy where he went to promote the great mexican and international music. In these performances he has included a repertoire he loves to sing and that has given him great popularity in US: Mario Lanzas themes and American songs of the 40s, 50s. "His voice remember me the Mario Lanzas voice, he is the hottest operatic and pop tenor of a new generation of singers"- Los Angeles Times. His last performance was the last October in The Palace of fine arts, The best theater in Mexico( like the MET in US), singing music of the best mexican composer of the last century, Manuel Esperón, with Orchestra and three mariachis, all together, with a great success.
