About Me

1 Edwin Reynaldo Gonzalez Murray better known as King Blak was born in Bocas Del Toro Isla Colon in 1982. He was the second of four children to Feliciano Gonzalez and Zoila Murray. Must of the people of Bocas came from the Carribean to Panama when the Panamanian Canal was being built. This is why in Bocas Spanish as well as English are spoken. Christopher Columbus during his travels came to Bocas to fix his boat and rest and this gives Bocas it’s rich history. King Blak was the 1st artist from Isla Colon in a production in Panama City. King Blak started music from the early age of 9. His mother always sang to him and his siblings everyday and this gave him his first love for music. During his youth he took part in various talent shows imitating famous musicians from Panama such as Nando Boom, Chicho Man, and Renato. Growing up Edwin Gonzalez was originally called Blak King. “Blak” because childhood classmates called him “El Negro, and “King” because he was born on January 6, the day of the three kings. When Edwin Gonzalez signed with Pioneer records in 2005, he then changed his name to “King Blak”. King Blak recorded his first two songs in 1998 when he was still in high school in a production of various artist called La Raza produced by D.J. Marvin Lemon at Stereo Planet Radio Station Studio in the city of David Chiriqui, Panama. During this time he also performed at various fairs, school concerts, and showcases. In the year 2000, two years after recording with D.J Marvin Lemon, King Blak moved to Panama City and in 2001 recorded his 1st song on a national level in a production by Rodney Clark a.k.a. El Chombo and his partner at the time Andy Van A. This production was called El Apocolipsis and King Blak’s 1st song on this production was named Focopealo. In this same production artist such as Renato, Burrell, Jr. Ranks, Principal, Kaiser, and many other were recorded. A little while after his 2nd recording in 2002 of Expedientes 4 featuring Jr. Ranks, and Mano Dura featuring Burrell on the album La Super Galleta 2, King Blak during this time appeared in Minaquas, Nicaragua on the Expedientes Tour, a benefit Concert at the Plaza Inter for burned children. Artist also performing in the tour included Renato, Dikky Ranking, D.J. Black, Burrell, Lino Pau, Vulkano, Lady Ann, and the producer Andy Van A. During this time King Blak also recorded a mix tape by D.J. Zaiid. Since 2002 King Blak has performed internationally. The most recent shows were at The Base Nightclub in Brooklyn, NY in 2005, also featuring El Almirante, Jatef, Fire Words, and Mr. Fox. The Best Party Place in the Bronx, NY with Kafu Banton and Rookie. Hotel Ramada in Atlanta, GA 2006 Memorial weekend. Club Casino in Queens, NY with one of the most famous Reggaeton artist Ivy Queen. Café Omar in Brooklyn, NY also featuring El Almirante, Velaxx, Relentless, and Mr. Fox. The Panamanian Day Parade in Brooklyn, NY in the summer of 2006. .. width="425" height="350"
