C O M About Kathy Misick: Growing up overlooking the beach in an unspoiled tropical sanctuary- the Turks and Caicos Islands - Kathy Misick has always had an intimate rapport with art and nature that was encouraged by her father, Turks and Caicos’ former Chief Minister. Long sessions spent poring over her mother’s Vogue magazines captured her imagination and introduced an awe-inspired Misick to the world of design; while impromptu drawing and sewing lessons from her artistic grandmother further enhanced her natural understanding of moods, shapes and colors. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, Kathy channeled her love for design into a brief career as a graphic designer and art director in Miami, before crossing the pond to pursue her lifelong love of fashion at London’s prestigious Central Saint Mart ins College of Ar t and Design. Misick later interned with noted stylist Jane How and Central Saint Martins alum, Nathan Jenden, creative director for Diane Von Furstenberg. She continues to work as a freelance stylist for various publications and clients. Strong women inspire Misick’s designs. “I am most interested in the interplay between structure and fluidity, the juxtaposition of strength and softness. It is the essence of the complex nature of women,” says Misick. “I am constantly seeking new ways of creating a harmonious balance between these two naturally opposing elements.” Misick views the advent of her womenswear line as an extension of her burgeoning fashion experience. She knows women will feel chic and poised in her creations. “I want women to feel complete-to feel transformed when they wear my clothes.” – Kathy Misick
