So it's the second half of the first decade of the twenty-first century, and Professor Hefner has earned their reputation as... "One of the best things to come out of Wisconsin since Chris Farley, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ed Gein, or at least Willem DaFoe."
But it wasn't always that way. Let's go back........are you coming?........ hurry up we're almost there!........... right this way ............................................................

Rising out of various midwest-livingroom-rock-experiment-abortions, 'Professor Hefner and the 18 year old experiment' took its' first babysteps in 2001. We know this by listening to 'Scary song' from their first EP, where then-drummer Mark Ostapiak begins his beautiful and endearing vocal performance with, "Oh-one motherf**ker!" (that's motherfucker, asterisks get confusing), as if P.HEF had invented the year. And in many ways ,maybe they did. The year 2001 saw P.HEF cut its' teeth mostly playing house parties, and opening for midwest punkbands. Even then, in its' infancy, there was no denying P.HEF was filling a huge void, stylistically, in the contemporary music scene, and this still holds true today. One particular house destruction party escalated to such a degree that at one point, during P.HEFs' set, all the physically imposing males in the audience were mobilized to hold the doors closed while multiple police officers tried to barge in. The crowd encouraged P.HEF to keep playing, and play they did, improvising a reggae/rock sing-along where Ryan led everyone in attendance in a chant of " The pigs can't shut us down!" Top forty material for sure.
