It all started back in 1995 when a friend was playing on the decks - he had to nip out and mistique jumped on the decks in his place, never before having had a go at mixing, she found it exciting and her interest sparked from there.. She went out and bought a pair of second hand decks, that had seen better days... A pile of records from the local record shop and got her head into her music and practised like mad, regularly having 'after' parties after nights out to show off her talents and build confidence..... After a year of practising she joined a Local radio station 'Rebel FM' and started to gain respect... Being a female dj in a male dominant environment she found this hard, but eventually people started to take her seriously and she started getting bookings...... Functions, Planet Venus, Palm Cove, university in Bradford, The House in Nottingham and Niche in Sheffield were amongst a few of the places she played.... In 1998, she had a go at promoting a club in Leeds called strictly sub, things were just starting to take off when the club had to suddenly shut down due to management problems, and mistique had to cut her losses.... She then started on another radio station, POWER FM in Bradford and her name was very well known around Yorkshire as a speed garage/2 step DJ.... In 2000, Mistique decided to take a break from DJ-ing to become a mum to Kelsey born in September 2000, which kept her away from the decks for 5 years... although still doing parties for friends and the odd guest spot on radio!!
In 2003, Mistique took up modelling, and was working for some top photographers & TV productions in London, but always felt there was something missing from her life... In 2005 She got chatting with some young up and coming dj's on the internet and her passion for dj-ing came back..... She joined basslinebeatz.com an online radion internet station specialising in bassline music and she started to dust off the cobwebs.... 6 months later, her name was out there again.. She left basslinebeatz and joined subiceradio.co.uk, where things really started to take off for her.... Since then she has played for the likes of Bassfactory, simply bassline, bass city groovers, Bassline pressure, Krush Allniter, Studiobeatz, Club Vibe, Bounce, United Bassline, Blaze, Passion, Urban Playground & Style to name but a few......
Playing on www.subiceradio.co.uk every Sunday 6-8pm (gmt).... Mistique is passionate about her music and wants to push herself as far as possible, to make a name for herself as one of the few successful female bassline and 4x4 dj's on the scene...... Watch this space for more updates!!.... ;-)
