I am a volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and participate yearly in their Light the Night event as Team Captain for the Friends of Heroes team, www.friendsofheroes.org I am also the webmistress for the Friends of Heroes website. As soon as my children are both in school, I will be training as a Patient Services Coordinator, to help newly diagnosed patients be aware of the services available to them through the LLS.I got involved with the LLS in 2004, after stumbling across a post on babycenter.com about a baby needing prayers, and it led me to www.scotthousehold.com. It was September 15, 2004, and I learned when I visited the site for the first time that the baby, Allie, had passed away on September 13, after a 4 month battle with AML, a form of Leukemia. Her mothers words made me want to make a difference. Allie was special, and she could have as easily been my child, or the child of anyone close to me. Her all too short life was an inspiration to me, and I want to help make a difference.
