Adrián Herrera currently teaches music at IEMS – DF. He studied classical guitar with Marco Antonio Anguiano and Ernesto GarcÃa de León, piano with MarÃa Teresa Frenk and Edyta Plodtzien, music theory with José Areán, Salvador RodrÃguez, Gabriela Ortiz and Sergio Cardenas, music technology with Pablo Silva and Carole Chargueron, and composition at Escuela Nacional de Música of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, working principally with Ulises RamÃrez and Julio Estrada; In addition, he studied with Georgina Derbez and Horacio Uribe at Escuela Superior de Música of Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in 1999-2000, where he studies composition with Jose Luis Castillo nowadays. He also attended several courses and conferences such as: “Escritura para percusiones†with the Anumadutchi Percussion Ensemble, “Nuevas técnicas para las cuerdas†with Stefano Scodanibbio, “Taller de composición†with Cornelius Schwer, “Clase Magistral para ensamble instrumental mixto y electroacústica†with Charles Norman Mason, “Jean Pierre Guezec, músico-compositor entre Boulez y Xenakis†with Patrick Butin and many others.

Adrián Herrera | MySpace Music VideosHerrera has been honored with the prize of the “En torno al violonchelo†Composition Competition (2004), the UNAM Foundation Fellowship (2003-2005), the FOECAH Fellowship for young creative people (2003), and in 2007 he was obtained a diploma for being distinguished among the first three places of grade in the composition career. His work “Pormenorizando æl caos†was published by UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autonoma de México) in 2006.Herrera’s music has been performed throughout México by such notable interpreters as Hazael Rivera, Leonora Marchisio, Hugo Manzanilla, Olivia Abreu, Victor GarcÃa and Cello Alterno Ensemble (Iracema de Andrade, Edgardo Espinosa and Mauricio Náder) in the “XXVII Foro Internacional de Música Nueva Manuel Enriquez†in Palacio de Bellas Artes, and he has participated as a composer in “En torno al violonchelo, panorama de compositores de la UNAM†compact disc creation. In 2006 he founded “La Polvaredaâ€, a collective composers for rock-folk-latin music development and performance.
