Brazilian music, american soul, and classical music and dance training have been a part of EvaEva's life since childhood. Indian music and culture has also had a significant influence on her musically, and is now an important component of her sound, image and overall artist concept.
Her parents, Googie (Carol / Carolyn Brooks) and Tom Coppola recorded and toured with many internationally-acclaimed artists, among them some of Brazil’s masters. In that group are; The Fatback Band, The Average White Band, Luther Vandross, Herbie Mann, The Jackson Five (Victory Tour), Todd Rundgren, Keith Jarrett, Pat Matheny, The Brecker Brothers, Steve Gadd, Yan Hammer, Manu DiBango, Stevie Wonder, Creed Taylor, Eumir Deodato, Airto Moreira and Flora Purim, and Hermeto Pascoal. These masters of music had a powerful impact on Ms. Coppola.
From 1983-1987, EvaEva studied Flute with Julius Baker and Brad Garner at The Juilliard School. While a student at Juilliard, she performed with Jean-Pierre Rampal and a flute chorus at Carnegie Hall. From the late 80’s to early 90’s, EvaEva could be seen spinning hot tracks at the Palladium, Limelight, Red Zone, Shout, City, Tavern On The Green, and the Rainbow Room.
EvaEva is also talented as an actress and dancer. She was hired as a child singer for commercials, has performed in plays, musicals, operettas, and has been trained classically in ballet and tap. In 1999, EvaEva starred in and co-produced the independent short film, "The Crown and Bell".
EvaEva's strongest vocal influences are Stevie Wonder, Maria Callas, and her mother. EvaEva is an amalgam of these and her own musical elements, and this mixture of styles, attitudes and moods is reflected in her diverse recordings. Among those who have recorded with her are Cyro Baptista, Gil Goldstein, and Dominguinhos. EvaEva traveled frequently to Brazil, where she recorded "Friends Always". She lived in São Paulo for three months in 2000, during which time she performed with Jorge Ben Jor. In 2005, EvaEva collaborated with Matt Pierson, recording 4 songs for EMI Music.
EvaEva continues her work to musically push the envelope and further refine her craft.
