''Ambush Sunrise is a family. Its way bigger than Nick and I, and its bigger than the songs. Its about the kids at the shows, the other bands, and the people we surround ourselves with,'' said Cole Kiburz, lead singer of Ambush Sunrise, while sitting in his spare bedroom turned makeshift recording studio. He was perfecting tracks for Ambush Sunrise's debut demo titled, ''Such an Unelegant Pose''. Cole continues, ''theres nothing cooler than just singing a song and having the audience sing your lyrics back at you. That's what I want. It's like you're all in it together''. Nick McGee, guitarist for the band interjects, ''Fuck that dude--We do it for the blow and bitches!'' The two band mates burst out laughing and one begins to understand what it is that is so infectious about the guys and their sound.''I guess that Ambush Sunrise is a metaphor for how we live so many amazing nights with friends, girls, family, whatever. It's when you stay up all night, the sun starts to rise and you wish there was some way to stop that from happening. You just want to stay in that moment forever.'' It seems that, on a greater level, its about life and not wanting to get older. A desire to freeze time and keep hold of your favorite moments as they pass. Once one sees the band perform, it is easy to see that this is truly how they live their lives.Despite the fact that the band is temporarily an acoustic duo, going to an Ambush Sunrise show makes you feel like you are experiencing the simplicity and innocence of true talent, not showbiz. For in true talent you find yourself. Like a good story, Ambush Sunrise's songs begin with a plot and end with a twist and a punch line; moreover, the songs often seem to transform from smokey Sunday morning reflections to fierce, anathematic, three-part harmonies. Add all this to lyrics that read like lost love letters, and you find a band that has developed a strikingly unique sound that one is least expecting to hear. This may be because Nick and Cole both have an intense passion for not only the music, but for the experience that comes with it--at every show and in every song. In a scene that seems overrun with songs concerned with the same old themes of ''how could you do this to me'' or ''I'd do anything for you'', Ambush Sunrise is a wide-eyed look at life. Ambush is looking at the larger spectrum of human emotions and capturing what it is to be young and full of hope for the future. Ambush Sunrise is the soundtrack to our lives. Here to capture the real sentiments, the real feelings, the moments that matter most.- Beth Walser, KULT-FM
