STORYVILLE BORN, PHILADELPHIA, PA, 1984. HIP HOP ARTIST

---Inspiration, Experimentation, and Energy make Entertainment.. - And that's exactly what Storyville delivers. Inspired by the brightest joys and darkest pains life has to offer, Storyville channels his ideas into music and lyricism, ready to break any boundaries that might hold down his expression. Storyville literally redefines the concept of Hip Hop with his experimental style and surprising lyrical content. He then takes this same passion and energy, and applies it to his unconventional, but captivating and exciting stage performances.

---If an alien came to earth and observed Hip Hop culture, then proceeded to become an emcee, he would be somewhat akin with Storyville. But Story's uncanny style is well founded in the roots of Hip Hop. He began his career as a freestyle emcee. His ability to create rhymes off the top of his head has earned him victories and high ranking titleships in famous rap battles such as "Kings of The Cipher," "The Art of War" and "Scribble Jam: Semi-finals." Storyville is known for using his prowess for impromptu rhymes to add spontaneity to his live performances as well. However, Storyville has grown into writing a careful blueprint for his songs and stage show. It is this hard work that has landed Storyville in performances along side legends such as RjD2, J-Live, The Rock Steady Cru, and Talib Kweli.

---Storyville's latest project, entitled "Escape Plan," blends many musical genres, incorporating everything from swing jazz to synth pop to drum-n-bass, all under the umbrella of Hip Hop. The album will also feature guest appearances by Philadelphia's hottest underground artists, Arizona rapper Random , as well as a spotlight feature from Gift of Gab (from the famed group Blackalicious ). When asked to describe "Escape Plan," Storyville Emcee replies "It's about getting away from the things that hold us down....cliches, boundaries, being close-minded, whatever restrains us."

---Inspiration, Experimentation, and Energy make a Storyville show. He engages the audience in a way most performers would not dare to do. "The audience pays to see the show, it's theirs, not mine" - says Storyville. And indeed, he follows through. Storyville frequently switches between song sets to cater to the taste of his audience, freestyles about people in the crowd, calls audience members to the stage to rap, and even engages in two-way discussions with the audience. "I want every show to be a unique experience, a lot of fun, and something the audience can really reflect back on."

Noteable Quotables

"Simply put, if you consider yourself a backpacker, or b-boy/girl, you will love this album. It’s passionate, smart, and pretty musical."

----------Jason Reynolds, Okayplayer.com

"Check out Storyville's Escape Plan, it's an adventure through the mind of an emcee. This project is filled with songs ranging from social consciousness, lyrical exhibition, story telling and much more. It's a well thought out album, one worth picking up."

----------THOR Takeover Records

"Storyville may have been four when Public Enemy released "It Takes A Millions," but he is clearly influenced by PE, and his debut is full of the same politicized, righteous anger that made "Millions" such a remarkable album. Storyville gets a lot right on "Escape Plan." When he is at his best, he combines interesting, head-nodding beats with lyrics that question the status quo and make the listener think."
