Hemenjini Ma'at Nubian, otherwise known as Ladee Flipside is the youngest member of Alien8ighted All Star Pro.. A8 Pro is an organic hip hop collaboration which originated on the south side of Chicago known for thier dynamicly talented 8 DJs, the fabulous Steph Staa, lyrically talented Ryan Officer, and beatboxing Master GQ the Teacha. Well known first on the poetry scene for her role played in a very popular set called R.A.N.D.U.M. (Rhythm Art And Divine Unity Movement Showcases), which infused cipher style hip hop, poetry, the art of beat-boxing and live instrumentation, and her short camio appearance in the independant film, "The Lyric", Flipside's organic hip hop style is noted literally as 'poetry in motion'.
Ladee Flipside, born Julia A. F. Goolsby, was raised in what is now called the Englewood community located on the south side of Chicago. Having grown up in one of Chicago's most notoriously violent black communities, Flipside was literally noted as the flower child that rose from the crack of the harsh concrete streets. "Flip", commonly known for her Rastafarian Ragdoll look, 6 foot frame, and uniquely drawn individuality infused with an organic hip hop b-girl flava became "Alien8ighted" in the summer of 2005. In the same year, she along with her "Twin Taurus" Ryan Officer (A8 pro.), released her debut EP entitled "Word" - An Original Blend of organic hip-hop, rock and old school flare; hard hitting tracks with a Feminine Twist. This album was received well amongst the Chicago underground community. The album was released in Tower records and could be found in a number of well know and well respected independent record stores from Chicago to New York. The album had a wide array of some of Chicago's most talented undiscovered artist and underground producers. The following year, Flipside and a few of her "sista femcees" marked a major milestone by becoming the first female hip hop group to host the second longest running hip hop set on a Monday night (Metaphoric Movement Mondays) at Exedus II Night Club (North Chicago). Continuing to represent the hip hop culture from a female prospective, Ladee Flipside, Steph Staa and the Alien8ighted All-stars pushed the barrier of a male dominated industry with a series of tours entitled "Ladies First" which showcased a number of female artists from all over the United States - all of which, united for one cause, the preservation of the hip hop culture. During this time, the Sista Cipher was born and the title track "I got you" became the Chicago "femcee" unity "get up/stand up" anthem. Between 2006 & 2007, she also embarked on a number or tours with her fellow artists and some well respected legends of the hip hop culture, including Wise Intelligent (Poor Righteous Teachers), Kool Herc, and Large Professor. These tours, respectfully referred to as the "Truth & Culture" tours, was the brainchild of A8's most hardworking DJ, SP One. She also began work with a sultry songbird named Josie Aiello on her album "Where I Am" which was release in the fall of 2007. The song, "Rebel Music",which was a duet between Josie and Flipside was a heavy hitting rock/hip hop/soul crossover title track which put Flipside in a new light by pushing the limitations of her style in the public eye. This, in turn, brought more attention to the young artist and with that a wider fan base. She also made a number of camio appearance in some of Chicago's well known artists' videos including, Ryan Officer's "Don't Call Him Big Man", Josie Aiello's "Venum", and Pugslee Atomz "Tear in Your Eye",just to name a few. In the Summer of 2008, Flipside along with her two partners Moxxie Peaches (Melanie Shaw) & Mesiah aka Jay Sick (Jason Thompson) developed an urban marketing/ promotion company for the urban artist by the urban artist called Urban Vybrationz INC. (UV INC. Chicago).. Flipside, being the founder of this grassroots company, strives to make this project the biggest collaboration of urban artist in the United States in hopes that this will bring a long standing dream of re-creating & re-building the hip hop community and also aide in unifying the youth through music. The goal of UV INC., according to Flipside, is to...."bring the worlds greatest artists, brightest stars, into alignment, no matter what medium is used, art is art, and it all goes hand in hand". This is especially important to Flipside, because she is a multi-faceted artist herself, also known for her beautiful crafted pro-black paintings (acrylic) and handmade abstract attire to Inspire (Abstrakt Oasis). "There is no one element that makes up the Hip Hop culture", states Flipside, "...it all works hand in hand". Throughout Flipside's career, although she is still relatively young, she constantly strives to remain grounded by using her music as a vessel to educate the youth as well as create an awareness of communal happenings and cultural turmoil. In the spring of 2009, Flipside's goal is to continue to plant verbalized seeds by releasing her long awaited second album, an LP which is currently untitled. This album contains the artistry of many talented artists from the Midwest to the East Coast and even throughout the South, including names like Booda Blaou (Chicago), Hasan Salaam (New Jersey), Ravage Mecca Godzilla (New York), DJ STATIC (New York), YallStreet (Georgia) and much more - this will be what she called her "unity" album. This will be the first but definitely not the last in a long list of Flip's efforts to keep the culture that kept her from falling victim to stereotypes and the streets, alive....
