The album highlights Patrick K’s innate ability to observe and tell a story, all through his riveting lyrics and melodic music. “Hanging Upside Down,†the title song, was written after night out observing college students, and the general mayhem drinking causes. “Throwing It Away†is a telling song about a friend who took the wrong road in life and never made his way back. And, “You’re In My Heart,†was written for someone who is my best friend, an always there to help. -----

As a prelude to this forthcoming album, Patrick K will also be releasing a special Christmas CD mid December through My Space (myspace.com/patrickkahern) and through BUY NOW. The proceeds from these holiday songs will benefit Simon Community, an Irish non-profit that helps the homeless.
Patrick K started playing music at the early age of thirteen. His Dad, a musician himself, taught him how to play the keyboards, and he immediately took to it. There was always a musical instrument at hand as his dad played in bands such as "The Arrivals†and “The Dukes of Jazz." The middle of five children, Patrick was the only sibling which exhibited a great love for music.
From a young age, Patrick knew he wanted to be a musician. Patrick started his first band called EXIT at thirteen with a couple of buddies. They had great times and shared big dreams, but eventually broke up. At the age of fifteen Patrick got into heavier music and started a punk band called STD in which he played bass. This band partied more than they played, but that’s teenagers for you.
At the age of 18 Patrick was nearly killed in a terrible motorcycle accident. His injuries were severe and took him away from music, After a few failed band attempts he chose to take a different path in life and turned away from his musical dreams. He still rides his motorcycle and joined a motorbike club which has taking him all over Europe where he's been to many concerts and motorcycle shows. It’s still something he enjoys today.
Then, for reasons unknown, at the age of thirty three, Patrick suddenly picked up a guitar and taught himself some chords, and hasn’t put it down since. Finding writing music very theraputic, Patrick started writing songs about his life, feelings and all of his experiences. And, thus, an album was born, and a life was reclaimed!..................................................
