to some i'm GLORIA.. to others, im BUNS.. to one, im DARLENE.. im 21 years old and a fourth year student at UC DAVIS.. no longer a biological sciences major.. no longer on the path to med school.. i volunteer at the UC DAVIS MEDICAL CENTER in Sacramento and since being there, ive chosen to pursue a career in nursing.. in my personal opinion, nurses are more interactive with the patients than doctors and thats exactly what i want.. my school doesnt have a nursing major so my road to nursing wont be as direct as it is for most people.. if all goes well, im going to graduate from davis with a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a biology emphasis.. then attend a nursing school and enroll in an accelerated bachelors program where i can get a Bachelor's in nursing in one year.. after that, i hope to continue and pursue a Master's degree in nursing and become a nurse practitioner (completely different job from a registered nurse).. because nursing school requires so many prerequisite classes, im planning on doing an extra quarter here in Davis and graduating at the the end of 2008.. im actually kind of glad it worked out that way because i cant imagine leaving here in june.. time goes by soooo fast and i cant believe im a SENIOR.. it seriously feels like just yesterday i was a freshman! crazy.. but anyways.. school is a big part of my life but behind that, i have the best support system i could ever ask for.. i LOVE my family! i am truly blessed to have the parents that i do.. they are sacrificing a lot to support me and one day, i will give back to them all that they have given me.. i love my sister (youre my favorite, drex!).. love my big bro and his wife rocie.. and they have the CUTEST baby ever.. i LOVE my baby niece! ..i also absolutely adore my dog, rebel! he is sooo cute! ..im also still with my boyfriend and couldnt be happier.. we've been together for almost four years now and have been through a lot together.. hes one of the smartest persons i know and is now working the job of his dreams.. i love him with all my heart and i hope that our relationship continues to stay as strong as it is.. (i love you my dear!).. life in davis can get hard when i go without seeing him and my family.. but ive been blessed with some great roommates that always keep it... interesting... lol.. melo-d and her tv shows and celebrity gossip.. and my dear lizard.. what would i do without you? she is my therapist and always knows how to make me feel better.. and in return, im her therapist and offer my words of wisdom.. haha.. we've had some crazy times together since freshman year.. along with cynner.. my subway buddy who left us for an overdoes of testosterone.. lol.. but its ok.. we still love her! ..im definitely blessed to be living the life that i am.. its not always easy.. but thats exactly what makes life so wonderful.. the struggles and hardships that you have to overcome allow you to grow as a person.. and your accomplishments and your success are more fulfilling. i thank God for everything He has given me and all the wonderful people He has put in my life.. it will take me a few years longer than planned to get to where i want to be.. but i know itll all be worth it in the end.. i just have to continue to work hard and keep my head up.. and of course, have fun along the way! =)
