About Me
I decided to create a new magazine exclusively for the transgender community that would have a dual purpose; it would serve as an outlet for the voices of the community, as well as provide affordable advertising for small businesses that support it. It would be a vehicle by which we could educate the general public about what it means to be transgender. Socially, I believe the climate is just right for such an endeavor. Major television programs have allotted entire shows about the subject (including Oprah Winfrey, Dr. Phil, and many others), as well as countless best-selling books, newspaper articles, documentaries, and now, “reality†television programs. Media in all forms, all around the globe are starting to notice this “third†sex. So why, as a “leading†American city, does Los Angeles not have a magazine dedicated to the Trans-World? It’s because the “social climate†was not right…until now.
I have assembled a team of the community’s most widely recognized voices, as well as some of the most inspiring and outstanding individuals out there, to contribute to the content of this magazine. Together we can bridge the gap between ignorance, fear and judgment, to a place of understanding, compassion, and acceptance. We can make a difference, one reader at a time. We will include news, entertainment, editorial commentary, as well as keeping our readers informed of Congressional decisions, lawmakers’ updates, legal rights, health care, and other current political issues. Each issue will feature a profile and/or interview with a successfully transitioned person, celebrity or non-celebrity, to share his or her inspirational story. What we will not do is portray trans-people in a negative light, or in a controversial way. Our aim is to educate the general public about the real, sometimes unseen, side of being transgender. I hope you’ll come along on this amazing journey!
With Love,
