I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I have a Masters Degree in Fine Art and exhibited work in galleries and museums before becoming a comic book artist in 1992. I ran Acme Comics in Greensboro, NC for almost nine years and put on seven comic book conventions. I'm also the associate editor and interviewer for Alter Ego magazine, which covers the Golden and Silver Ages of comic books. I've worked for all the major comic book companies, Disney, and Warner Brothers, and currently freelance for Archie Comics. Roy Thomas and I co-wrote the John Romita and All That Jazz biography which is still available from Twomorrows.com. My next book, Sal Buscema: Comics Fast and Furious Artist, will hit the stores in late October. My good friend Eric Nolen-Weathington will co-edit, transcribe the interview tapes, do the layouts, and make sure we all look great!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

So many of those I'd like to meet are no longer with us. I've been fortunate enough to have met many of my heroes. Mainly, I like to talk to people who are interesting and like to share points of views. I don't judge people by their politics (well, if you were a Nazi or a Klan member, I'd make an exception) or religion. I met Arlo Guthrie once, but would love to have a conversation with him. I'd also like to meet Hank Aaron, Manny Sanguillen, David McCullough (as well as several other historians), Ringo Starr, Josh White, Jr., among others.

The Jack Kirby Collector #52 and additional postscript.

Jack Kirby was my biggest comic book inspiration, and obviously, my favorite comic book artist, too. He's been written about so much that it seems that most anything I have to say has already been...
