"The Glove Thief" Debut album OUT NOW

About Me

Carly Sings - Apple Tree
So Carly Sings is Carly; she also plays guitar, piano and synth. The songs that form her solo enterprise, first got written, when she bought her classical guitar almost 2 and half years ago in FRANCE. (before that she did compose instrumentals and write duets with friends and play the piano and hum a lot but she never dared sing in public. she was a student AND she was an actress.,and she wandered around the streets of Paris, wondering what would become of her until she met Toshi who taught her musical modes in a sushi bar on rue des Martyrs and Esther who taught her jazz and gospel songs near rue Censier) -- Anyway the guitar -made in China -an X guitar as it was known--, was aquired in a pawn shop and was chosen by a flamenco playing street troubador who her mother had accidentally encountered in a café on rue Mouffetard. Her demo recordings made using an old stereo mic and mini-disc recorder ( that came from NYC, her piano playing dad had lent it to her one summer but she never gave it back) that were recorded live in an attic room in rue des Irlandais, got her very much noticed on the Myspace network. Then some french japanese girls who had found her on their myspace travels invited her to play a concert in Oberkamf and it all hapenned after that: More concerts and more demo recordings and then BOOM fast forward zoom zoom, a debut album called "The Glove Thief".It was originally going to be a 16 track collection of acoustic kitchen recordings, with string orchestrations by Auguste Vannier and Dicky Annegarn, but it transmerged into a 12 track studio album co-produced by Carly herself.. the album is now globally released on itunes!!! You can also order a special signed edition hard-copy with mini vinyl case, including lyrics book, from this page. Or you can buy it from Road Records (Dublin, Ireland), Tower records, (Dublin, Ireland) Redlight records (Galway, Ireland), Rough Trade records (London Portabello and London Brick Lane, Great Britain) or from some other groovy record store. In the last year she has played in all sorts of venues ranging in size from her bedroom to concert halls in both Paris and Dublin, and toured as a special guest with many artists such as Jose Gonzalez, The Blue Nile, Nina Nastasia, Dave Geraghty (from Bellx1), Beth Rowley, Monade (Leatitia from Stereolab), Adrian Crowley, Peter Von Poehl, Chequerboard, Mugison, Tigersaw, Halfset, Si Shroeder, Dry County, New Amusement, Captain Kid, Rhob Cunningham, Crayonsmith and Baby Dee.
