The Bulldogs (5-1) set up a potential tournament championship rematch against Poughkeepsie — the Pioneers won that game by 10 a year ago."This means a lot," said Beacon senior Taylor Denis, who led the Bulldogs with 17 points. "Last year we lost to Poughkeepsie, and I wasn't really ready for it. Now I want to get back at Poughkeepsie, bring it back to Beacon this year."Beacon will first have to get through Arlington in the semifinals.The Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead against Roosevelt, thanks to some nice passing and ball movement. Clark's bomb at the buzzer didn't really affect the outcome, but folks were smiling anyway."There's always some players that don't get as much playing time as others, and it's always great when a kid like that hits a shot like that," said Beacon coach Tom Powers.Denis and Ke-Shaun Jones led Beacon with 17 points apiece. Shareef Taylor led the Presidents (0-3) with 12 points, and Connor Hart added 10."Defensively we played really well tonight," said Powers. "We've been working hard all week. We wanted to start off with man (defense). That really got us into our offense. We forced them into some shots they maybe wouldn't have liked to take."Powers was also pleased with the efforts of his two senior leaders, Denis and Jones."Ke-Shaun is a real hard worker. He's got a motor that ever stops," Powers said. "He runs and nothing but good things happen from that. Taylor came out tonight as our leader, he's our captain, and he played as best he's played, in spurts tonight."Denis said much of his success this season comes from playing alongside Jones, who he's only known for a year."We have mad good chemistry," Denis said. "We just know each other, we know where to find each other on the court, we know where we like to shoot from and we both like to play an up-tempo type of game. I was the first person he met, we clicked and we've been tight ever since."It's Dirty Blok All Day
