The University of Alabama was founded in 1831 and now has grown to be a very large southern university. The university has over 23,000 students coming from every state and many different countries. The university has a great tradition and history dating back to before the Civil War. Many of the buildings on campus are still in tact on the University's campus today. Alabama has consistantly been named in US News and World Reports top 50 public universities in the country. Also, the university has 5 students who were named to the 2005 USA Today All-USA College Academic Team. That is more than any other school in the country including Harvard, Yale, etc. The University of Alabama is a great Academic school but we also know how to party and have a good time. Alabama has been ranked as one of the top 10 party schools over the past few years also. Tuscaloosa, home of the Universityof Alabama, is home to the Houndstooth. The Houndstooth was recently voted the ..1 College Sports bar in the country. Basically, there is always something to do at Bama, never a boring moment here. Sports, especially football, is a huge deal at UA. You will never experence anything like a football game in Bryant Denny Stadium, it is crazy. UA's football program is know for it's national prominance and has earned 12 National Championships.
