The name Faran Flad means 'travel splendidly', comes from old german, celtic and english words. And that's we want to do, on our musical journey.
Wiktionary
Proto-Germanic *faran, from Proto-Indo-European *per-, *por-. Cognate with Old Frisian fara, Old Saxon faran (Dutch varen), Old High German faran (German fahren), Old Norse fara (Danish fare, Swedish fara), Gothic (faran). The PIE root is also the source of Ancient Greek Ï€ÎÏαν, Latin portÅ, Proto-Slavic *pÑŒratÄ« (Old Church Slavonic перѫ, Russian переть).
[edit] PronunciationIPA: /ˈfɑrɑn/
[edit] Verbfaran
to go; to travel, to journey
Nu wylle ic faran. Now will I travel.
Faran Flad is a band that likes to play traditional music and compostitions made by band members.
The first recordings were made during our second rehearsal sitting around the kitchen table, so they're nowhere near to what the album should/will sound like.

What you said about our music:
Beste rasartiesten, We hebben enorm genoten van jullie optreden op het folkfestival (Dranouter). Het was een verademing om nog eens echte folk te horen. Moest jullie cd uitkomen in de maand september wil je mij dan op de hoogte houden waar die te verkrijgen is. Samen met the Chieftains waren jullie het hoogtepunt van het festival voor mij. Nog veel muziekgenot en tot hoors, Ivan Poelaert
Je viens de vous écouter sur myspace. C'est une musique qui me ravit et me transporte. Bravo la voix, bravo les instruments.

I just saw the friend request from Faran Flad - what beautiful music. It's hard to believe those recordings took place around a kitchen table. They sound very professional...
