part 2:jamie and erin rocked out, won some money, made some friends, started record label (or at least talked alot about it), decided that "I'm in a band" is a good excuse for all your mistakes and shortcomings (erin decided anyway), joined other bands, drank some beer (not TOO much), worked low-paying jobs, thought about making solo records and learning new instruments but didn't have much time to do it, got tired and irritable, decided you can't do EVERYTHING you want to do all at the same time and pay your rent too, decided to take a break from old phoebe for a year because life is long and phoebe is a resiliant individual, said "i love you jamie" and "i love you too erin," played a few more shows with renewed enthusiasm and varying levels of competence, made t-shirts, invited their friends on stage to sing "baby, I love you" and "ahah-ah-ah-ah-ah," and now phoebe is sleeping while jamie and erin continue to rock hard, but responsibly.
part 3:then amogst other things like erin making a solo kill the buddha record and going on tour across canada with the phrenologists, and jamie thinking about making a solo jamie anderson record but not quite getting around to it what with moving to montreal and everything, erin and jamie made a new record! it's called i'll take you where i go, after the song that is the most collaborative of all old phoebe's songs: jamie wrote the guitar part and the chorus, and then erin wrote lyrics to it, kind of fucking jamie's song up in the process and it was the first time erin and jamie couldn't agree on something (besides who is better, feist or emily haines?) and then they broke up and got their own apartments, but then erin said, hey what if we tried that song again? hmm?
well it worked out, and jamie and erin had a wonderful time recording the record all by themselves again, but this time at the chrome horse studio at the & loan gallery (instead of in their living room) and quinn helped them make it sound a little less hard on the ears than the first record. also, they spent a whole month working on it, not just five days, and used a real piano, and real guitars (same guitars actually), and a bike you can actually ride.
then they played a show at the cambie, which was pretty okay, and then they played a show in montreal, which was so fun! old phoebe got to travel! maybe she will get to travel more one day.
you can get both old phoebe records at fascinating rhythm and clifford's wake in nanaimo!
part 4: now erin and jamie both live in montreal. I wonder what will happen next?
