Uneven, the dynamic strenght of unequal. Music for five musicians and seven compositions. The otherness defines us because of contrast. The beauty of dissonance as the height of sound clearness. That’s the reason why there is a double duo,two guitars and two winds, and the kaleidoscopic balancier Alessandro De Angelis. In every duo we can find the other one. And every duo is exposed to a different one. The piano is the double face mirror in which we can multiply. And at he same time it’s the desired place where we harmonically can be unequal. Musical material is drewn on band tradition, where Bronzi and Valiensi have been searching fruitful sonoric relations - and on compositions of mine. John Stowell, a great jazz guitar player, represents the stylistic dissonance that makes the sense of the project itself. There are impressionistic roots, the same of jazz and of european cultured music - as the connections between Debussy, Puccini, Strayhorn, Reinhardt up to the great synthesis made by Annette Peacock. A theft for love. We steal what we buy because of greed. We all five steal because we can’t divide the treasure equally. We steal to wish what we aren’t. We are what people rob us, because of love.
CHILDHOOD OF A PARKER'S NEIGHBOUR
Original compositions by C. Riggio and themes by C. Parker, as ballads.
Claudio Riggio, voice, guitar, electronics, percussions
Piero Bronzi, saxes, electronics, percussions.
There are many beautiful things that can resist quickness. They are so thick that they can be appreciate at a glance. If we enlarge time, if we slow down these expressions they will show us their kaleidoscopic charm. They are perfect, always unvaired. As if Beauty prescinds from time and space. Chords beneath don’t work anymore. The ones of american traditional song (ballads, musical). Phrasing is alive and so adaptable, changeable but chords are as an abandoned ark after the journey, as a sphinx in the desert. Those wide, slowed down expressions ask for new memories, for new harmonic relations. Dissonance persists and it shows daring structures which don’t stand themselves when the carousel slowes down. Harmony listens to the wide humming bird notes and the sphinx turnes itself into daily and alive objects: a spoon, a dice, a photo. Delaied melody falls into harmony and fertilizes it. They resemble each other. And I want to sing my pieces. I love him, I love Charlie Parker.
