I am on a search. I have had great teachers and some not so great... I try my best to correctly pass on what I have learned and to keep that tradition alive, be it music, cooking, history or "other"... whatever *that* is. ;)
Someone who can mentor me to the next level of my goals and aims... an artist with conviction.... a beautiful and nice, funny woman who understands that cooking and service is a huge aspect of my existence and wants to be a part of it! Lemme see... who else.... Georges Blanc, Paul Wertico (Christ! He is *in* Chicago!), a person who is grounded and forthcoming in being spiritual and can help me get back on that track. Robert Schimmel, Louis CK, and other honest people who can make one laugh at life's "treats".
No order, here: Zappa, Berlioz, bartok, Stravinsky, King Crimson, Tuner, Porcupine Tree, Anything with Bill Bruford on Drums, Sibilius, Tool, David Torn, Andy Rhinehart, Steely Dan, Chicago (before 1986-- or anything with Terry Kath!), Mahavishnu Orchestra, anything with Allan Holdsworth, Jason Falkner, Matthew Sweet, Adrian Belew, The Thorns, Miles Davis, Tony Williams 'lifetime', Pat Methany, Dave Brubeck, Pierre Favre, TU, Rufus Wainright, John Coltrane's "Inner-stellar Space" and "A love supreme", Klark Kent, Volto, Mozart, Beethoven, Edwin Fissinger, Anton Bruekner, Nusrat Fetah Ali Kahn, older Yes.
My Life, Waking Life, Amelie, Meetings with remarkable men (especially th elast 10 mins!), concert vids, standup comedy vids, Team America was one of the most AMAZING films ever made.. aside from the silliness, it as MIND BLOWING!
do DVD's count?... News and comedy central... I miss the "Great Chef's" show on A&E I saw growing up :(Reality TV and TV in general need to take a sabattical for a few years... it is all visual garbage.
Cookbooks-- science, chemistry, lots of biographies (just read Steve Martin's BIO and Robert Schimmel's great book on having cancer...) Spirit books: lots by Hindu writers, Catholics, Gurdjieff readings - Subud, JG Bennett, Ken Wilbur, Alex Grey, Escoffier, Pierre Franey, Jim Sullivan, and this hard to read manual for the damned Roland td-7... piece of crap......
Anyone in life who has reached the top of the hill, been knocked down (cancer, failure, life-threatening, public loss, etc etc etc ... and *still* bounces back and does so humbly and just keeps on living life to the fullest!-- see my mentor pics in my photo sections-- especially now my sister Anne who survived a tough and scary battle with cancer.
