I have 7 years of experience in political consulting and I've also run for numerous offices ranging from City Council to US House of Representatives. I've done 5 years with the US army, one of those was in Iraq and one was in South Korea. I'm a student of politics though I'm still on sabbatical from Cal State Fullerton where I am majoring in Political Science.
I like to learn about new things and to understand events from the other side's point of view. I'm opposed to puritanism. I'm probably the only virgin running for a public office in the US. I'm hoping to get in the history books that way. ;)
As a virgin, however, I'm opposed to abstinence only sex ed in the public schools. Abstinence is not something that can be taught. It's a calling. Most people can't abstain. It's not human nature. You have to want to abstain in order for it to work for you. The problem with puritanical abstinence programs is that they go against millions of years of evolution. If you want to do it, just do it. But it would be better if you only did it with the person which you are certain you are going to be married to for the rest of your life. But, hey, that's unrealistic. Most marriages these days never make it past the second month.I'm don't think politics should dictate the direction of science. Particularly when politics is run by a bunch of uneducated religious fundies. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against religion or christian values per se. I'm as devout in my Christianity as the next guy. I've been active in the churhc. However, if you read scripture, God says to keep church and state seperate. Also, Jesus said that the church should pay taxes. He even set the example for this in Matthew.I'm for a fair and just reform of the immigration laws. But since Bush refuses to do anything and Congress is deadlocked with partisan bickering, the states have no choice but to deal with it themselves. We can't deport everyone. It would be wrong. But it is also wrong to leave the Mexican border wide open so terrorists and rapists can enter the US, hidden in a group of illegals.I am pro-life, but we aren't there when a woman faces a situation where she has to choose between life and death. To second guess a woman who has had an abortion, is like second guessing the soldier on the battlefield in Iraq. And we know that all the political second guessing of soldiers in Iraq is causing more deaths. Therefore, women have the right to the benefit of the doubt when it comes to abortion. Abortion is between women and their God. If you don't like it, take it up with God.Global Warming is real. Whether it is natural or manmade is irrelevant. What is relevant is what are we doing to prepare California for a future where most of the state is desert and where many of California's coastal communities could be under several feet of water by the 2020's. If Washington won't act, then we must. The Constitution of the US gives states the power to act. There are new technologies we can adopt. For example, a group of university researchers working on the biodome 2, have invented a device that acts as an artificial tree which can soak up to 1,000 times the carbon which real trees can absorb. I am proposing building 500 of these devices right here in California. Each one will be the equivalent of removing 15,000 cars from California's roads and freeways. Imagine the impact.Related to global warming we are going to be seeing a severe scarcity of drinking water. Many Californians are going to die from thirst because the state is doing nothing at the moment. They promise action in the future. But in the future it will be too late. We must act on this now. One thing we need to do is build desalinazation plants.I am running for governor of California in 2010 and I hope that if you agree with my views that you will join my campaign. For reference, I will not add anybody whose profile reads like a commercial for a product or service.
