About Me
The meter stuck in the 60's, I give thanks to my idols - and my personal
way to adulate them, is to pass them along the edge of my brush. Sometimes
too, I jump to the present, your time, and paint "today's images"...
In my imaginary workshop, the icons that inspire me line up along neverending
walls: Elvis, Bettie Page, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Steve McQueen,
Emma Peel and many other actors, actresses, models and singers from the
60's. Some of these merciless and cruel characters, in their eternal pose,
even upset my whole life - And these early playmates who have been haunting
my soul since the beginning... Pin-ups from old magazines... All these
naked girls to whom I try to give life, outside of bad websites. All around
them, toys and packages, user's manuals, instruction booklets, warning
messages, a few advertisings, many stolen Comic books' scenes, all superimposed,
stapled, tattooed on these bodies, transforming these beauties while taking
them away from their original context, forcing them to obey a user's manual,
an incomplete explanation, a new story... A new meaning, at a new time,
for a second existence... All these heroes, these ideal post-modern figures,
multiply on my easels. They are "monsters", to the full extent
of the word: terrifying, immortal, magnificent, fascinating, it is now
time to show them to the audience - since in latin languages, a "monster"
is indeed part of a show: "monstre", "mostrare", "monstrare",
are all related to "monsters", those creatures who show signs,
and who are shown in return. So that the Audience itself, once again,
is caught in vertigo, looking at what overwhelms them.
