Unified Minds formed in 2007. Lefty McGuiness was an aspiring producer who had recently decided to quit selling his beats and start rhyming. Austone was a Dallas native MC who had been writing songs from the age of 15 and had almost given up on the "DFW Dirty South" scene. He and Lefty were introduced, decided to join forces, and at last Austone had found a producer with a true to the roots, pure hip hop flavor. To the same effect Lefty had found an MC worthy enough to grace his beats with lyrical content and true to the oldschool/underground style they both have an evident passion for. After a few studio sessions and tracks coming together, some almost effortlessly, it was evident they were on to something. In 2008 they added G.P. another double threat MC/Producer who like Lefty is originaly from Oklahoma. With his unique voice, epic style beats, and catchy hooks it added a perfect contrast to perfect this holy trinity of hip hop. G.P. will free style and battle with the best MC's without hesitation. Lefty is a DJ at heart, a good one at that competing in battles as a teen. Austone quick with the pen and when a beat is decided on its not uncommon that it is layed down and perfected within the hour. There is nothing this triple threat cant do when it comes to versatility, and when it all comes together it creates a style all there own. Tired of the glitz and glamour tracks poisinig the youth of America, this group has come together to bring hip hop back to its roots. If you have not seen them live, with DJ Cayne on the ones and twos, then you are definitely missing out. Their first two shows ever were battles of the bands and they left both victorious, killing competition that included a few well known local hip hop acts. (Names left out, out of respect). When on the stage the crowd pulsates to the bass pounding beats. At times its hard to hear the beat with the entire audience screaming the lyrics right along with them. With their originality and humble easy to approach attitudes you cant help but relate to and respect them. They make all their own beats from scratch, write there own lyrics, and do all their production down to the mastering in-house. With music as their passion and not giving into the gimics of the game expect big things from these trend setters in the future.
