About Me
I was born one morning in a place called Moscow. It was a fine May morning in 1672 and the Kremlin was abuz with delight at the birth of, well, me! I was child number 14, well, for my dad. But I was number one for my mom. All of my older brothers were sick, and so it was really cool when i turned out healthy.
I was four when my pops died. My brother Feodor took over as Tsar, but as I said, he wasn't too healthy. He kicked the bucket in 1682. I was 10.
This big fight ensued over who should rule now. Me or my half brother Ivan. Ivan was a twit, slow witted and none to bright, but alas, we had joint rule. But, since I was only 10, and Ivan wasn't much older, my sister Sophia was appointed regent. She was in love with this jerk Golitsin, and let him rule pretty much however he wanted. He did a bunch of things people didn't like. He started this campaign against religious leaders saying that their old ways didn't work in the modern world anymore. I thought he had something there, but then he went and did the dumbest thing, he tried to fight the Tartars, not once, but twice....what a moron.
When I turned 17 I had had enough of this baboon, and so I removed my sister and her boyfriend from my rightful position. You may wonder what of Ivan, well, he "technically" helped me run the country until his death in 1696, but that moron got lost in his own palace, he couldn't make a decision to save his life. I let him believe he "ruled" but really, I made all the rules.
Let's see, what else should you know about me..... Oh yes, I am quite tall, about 7 feet. People tell me I am quite loud.
I am best known for the reforms i passed:
I opened Rusiia up to the west, got us up to date. I had a bunch of the smartest and best craftsman and merchants and archetects, etc to come on over,and liven up the joint, move us foward. Lots of the older cronies and religious finatics didn't like it too much, but what could they do? I got us to trade with Europe, and I made St. Petersburg...not an easy task I must say.
