Building Communities, Strengethening Lives

About Me

Family Promise of Reno/Sparks is a community-wide program that provides transitional shelter and and comprehensive assistance for families in the Reno/Sparks area in a manner that offers hope, preserves dignity, and promotes self-sufficiency.On Friday, September 26th, 2008, everyone is invited to help raise awareness for families who are experiencing homelessness in Washoe County. Participants spend a night in a cardboard box and confront the experience of being without a home for a night. For one night Wingfield Park will be home to Cardboard Box City, a one-night event to raise money and awareness for Family Promise, a support agency in Reno, Nevada that allows homeless families to stay together. My Interests

Every night, as many as 5,000 people in Washoe County have no place to call home. Approximately one-third are families with children.A minimum wage worker would have to work more than 70 hours a week, 52 weeks per year, just to keep a family of four above the poverty line.

I'd like to meet:

All community members interested in helping local Reno/Sparks families in crisis.

Heroes:

All the members of Reno and Sparks faith communities that have thus far helped Family Promise of Reno/Sparks continue in its endeavor to provide local families the assistance they need. Without you, we couldn't do it!
