About Me
Helen Blanche Stratford is New York City. Her art delves into the passion and the pathos, the comic and the tragic, the creative and the degenerate, inspired by a journey of addiction, love and loss. She is a poet, writer, musician, and performance artist whose talents combine to create a unique and memorious theatrical experience. Ms. Stratford’s show “Hobo of the Heart†at Cami Hall garnered critical acclaim, and “Suicide The Musical†at PS122 brought the East Village to it’s knees. Her dramatic works have earned standing ovations at Dixon Place Theater, Theater for the New City, and La Mama, and her performances are regularly broadcast on various NYC cable stations. Her original cabaret work has been featured at The Apollo, Joe's Pub, CBGB's, Fez, Knitting Factory, and Lincoln Center. As a poet she is featured regularly at Bowery Poet's Club, Cornelia Street Cafe, Opaline, and Sidewalk Cafe. As an accordionist who sings French and German, she has traveled extensively throughout Europe, India, and Morocco, playing in orphanages, train stations, and market places - and her street and subway performances here in New York merited front page coverage on both El Diario and the New York Sun. Her piano compositions have been heard regularly at Gerschwin Hotel, Caffe Vivaldi, as well as other Steinway, Yamaha, and Baldwin baby grands through the city. As an actress, she has worked with Karen Finley, Richard Foreman, and has appeared on various episodes of Sex & The City, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.Helen loves an audience, and any smart audience loves Helen.
