"THE LONNIE B SHOW" (My Life, Your Entertainment")

About Me

A s a young boy growing up listening to early hip-hop , LONNIE B ., like many during that time became absorbed with all forms of the culture. He first began DJing under the careful instruction of another notable Richmond turntablist named Dj Drake. While perfecting his skills on the Technique 1200's, his overbearing microphone presence and piercing lyrical content was instantly amazing listeners from some of his very first raps. It became obvious to anyone that heard his dominating voice that Lonnie B. was about to be a problem in the rap game.

With the city buzzing about this Southside sensation, it wasn't long before he would cross paths with Richmond's then Unsigned Hype, Mad Skillz , at the University of Richmond radio station WDCE. Skillz recognized Lonnie's talent immediately and would later give him the position to kick in the door on the Freestyle Intro, as well the song "Unseen World", on Skillz debut CD "From Where???"

A s one of the original founding members of the SupaFriendz , Lonnie actually attached the Supa title to the crew, citing that, "we all are exceptional in our own areas, so when we come together its like The Superfriends" He would go on to produce the underground classic, very first Supafriend single, Vowel Movement. Lonnie B. would also appear on several songs with his Usual Supa-Suspect Danja Mowf , on Mowf's 1997 release "Word of Mowf"
Lonnie became a co-owner in the SupaFriendz label "804 Flava" which released several singles on wax, including the 804 Trilogy which gave convincing evidence of Lonnie's ferocious verbal attack ..s like "Come Get It", "Make it Hot", and Unseen World PtII. His style became as ingrained as his last name, BATTLE! The Richmond streets were paved with the multitudes of rappers who were struck down by Lonnie's raw, in-your-face battle style. His local battle success would take him national in 1998 for the Blaze Battle and his classic match up in the finals with rhyme rival Breeze Evahflowin' .

L onnie B. the DJ was also a force to be reckoned with. He was an on-air personality on WDCE - U of R Radio, WSOJ - J100, and finally settled at WCDX - Power 92 . Since very early in his DJ career, the name Lonnie B. has also been synonymous with "packed party." It was his skill at rocking the party that also gave his name Supa status, and led to an ensuing radio career. Since being at Power 92, Lonnie moved up in the ranks to become the Mix Show Coordinator and is responsible for breaking most of the new music in the Richmond Virginia market. Coupled with his NVA (Network for VA Artist) showcases every month, and having the cities highest rated show on Sunday night playing two hours of local music called "Straight From The Streets," Lonnie has become one of the most valuable music conduits in Virginia. New York City's "Dj Enuff" recognized Lonnie's talents and made him a member of world-renowned Dj Alliance, "The Heavy Hitters" which boast such members as Kanye West, Dj Camillo & Dj ProStyle.

In late 1998, he would appear with SupaFriendz Skillz and Mowf on the biggest unofficial, turned official remix of Aaliyah's "Are You That Somebody." His recording credits also include the SupaFriendz 804 Compilation, the "What's the Worst that could Happen" soundtrack to the Danny Devito, Martin Lawrence movie of the same name, various songs with Dougie Fresh, and many more on the new SupaFriendz Vol II - SupaVision.
