Hey everybody! My name is Cristy I live in the town of Andover.... here is where my old life stopped and my new one has started on feb 3 2006 at 5:30 walking home from work to my apartment across the street from my house I was hit by a car while half way through the cross walk. Luckly there were people present to call 911 right away and i was life flighted to Beth Israel hospital in boston rushed into my 1st surgery for 8 hours where they found that my left leg had been smashed in half with a large hole of bone missing. my left coalor bone was snaped, my upper arm was broken in half and my elbow was smashed and broke through my skin. my right pelivs and hip was broken in 3 places and my right sholder was broken. Lastly my left rib broke and punctured and colapsed my left lung. whew let me tell you I have been through 5 surgerys, bone infections, blood test, cat scans, xrays, physical and ocupational therapy, brain and meomory test more than I would ever wish one anyone! I have spent two months in the hospital and have gone to the er twice since i've been home but let me tell you all that most of us out there are no where near as fortunate as I am. I will get all of my mobility back and besides scaring and a bad dream I will be ok. There are so many people I have met on this journey who have shown me how strong the human spirt is. How no matter what it is you believe in there is someone watching over you out there. I sit here and cry writing this because I can not stress enough how fragile and precious life is. please live everyday to its fullest and believe that you were put here for a purpose to do something and no matter how bad you think it is just be happy your healthy and have people who care about you out there whether you believe it or not. After this whole thing I am actually going to go back to school and become a physical therapist so I can help the soooo many people out there that this has happen too. It maybe a few months before I can walk again myself but I can only thanks god that I am alive everyday. April 4,2006
