What is Colon Hydrotherapy?Colon Hydrotherapy is used to flush out the stagnant lining in the colon with sterile, oxygenated water. The colon hydrotherapy procedure involoves the insertion of a speculum of 1" depth and 3/4" across into the client's rectum. The other end of the speculum is then attached to a plastic hose which connects to the colonic machine. The colon hydrotherapist then adjusts the volume and temperature of the water so the colon can comfortably receive and release at the same time. This induces peristaltic contractions in the colon, and the patient begins to expel accumulated fecal matter through the colonic machine and out through the plumbing. While the person is receiving the colonic treatment, the colon hydrotherapist lightly massages various parts of the abdomen to help loosen and deslodge areas of fecal impaction.
