The Revelators

About Me

The Revelators were a raw and abrasive garage punk band formed in Columbia, MO in 1995. They featured Jeremiah Kidwell on vocals, John Scooley on guitar and Mark Walters on drums (later Bill Randt from the New Bomb Turks). The band released a 7" and a LP on Crypt Records and a 7" together with the harmonica player Walter Daniels on Sympathy For the Record Industry. They combined elements of primitive rock'n'roll, punk and rockabilly with the deep blues and country influences of their Southern heritage: the result is a thrilling mixture that strongly makes you shake your hips. When the LP, titled "We Told You Not To Cross Us", was released (on february 1997) it caused a sensation in at least three Missouri counties and parts of Arkansas and Illinois. The Revelators were immediately rushed off to a whirlwind tour of Europe. Following a grueling North American tour, the group recorded one more LP (titled "Let A Poor Boy Ride" and never released) and promptly broke up.
