The Lex van Rossen Award is an annual prize to stimulate young European musicphotographers. The award is named after the famous Dutch music photographer Lex van Rossen, who unfortunately died at the age of 57 in February 2007. Lex made photographs for Dutch magazines and newspapers like OOR, NRC Handelsblad and Haarlems Dagblad and is considered to be one of the leading Dutch music photographers of his time. In January 2008 jury chairman Frans Vreeke (producer of Eurosonic Noorderslag) handed out the first edition of the prize to Dutch musicphotographer ANNIE HOOGENDOORN. She received 2500 euro’s as an encouragement. Belgian photographer TOM VERBRUGGEN won the second edition in january 2009.The POPVIEW 2009 exhibition that features ao Toms work can be seen in THE ROUND HOUSE, London soon (augst/september 2009). more information will follow.
Besides that, at this moment, we are also busy preparing Popview 2010. Therefor, we are looking for young talent. Work of the best couple of photographers can be seen in The POPVIEW exhibtion in the Noorderlicht Photogallery, in Groningen (The Netherlands, opening somewhere around 14th of january 2010).
