About Me

Karen Anne Carpenter... ~ Born - To Harold and Agnes Carpenter - March 2, 1950 in New Haven, -(Connecticut). ~ Siblings - Brother Richard, born - October 15, 1946 ~ Her and her family moved from CT - in 1963-to Downey California. Her brother, Richard still resides in California. ~ Music Career- Known as: "The Carpenters" -(duo with Karen & her Brother)Spanned from 1969-1983-and her memory and music still live on and will forever.... ~"The Carpenters also-had various TV specials during the years of 1976-1981. One such television special which lasted a few years was called, "Music Music Music." Although, they did appear on tv many times before and after those years. ~ During her life - Karen suffered with Anorexia Nervosa, causing her to go down to only around 77lbs. February 4, 1983, Karen lost her life to this deadly disease. She thought she'd beaten it, but it was too late. All the struggling and suffering over all those years caused damage to her heart causing it to grow weak. This is said to be the ..1 cause of her death. However, Richard, thinking it over, thinks maybe she could have lived longer, had it not been for the hospital Karen stayed in around 1981-1982, helping her gain weight intervenously too fast during her stay. This may have caused too much strain on young Karen's heart and caused her to die suddenly in her parent's home that February day. ~She will always be remembered as the: "Drummer who sang," and the girl with the "Angelic" voice. She truly had/has, "The Voice of the Heart." And now, prayerfully, she's up there in Heaven, singing for God and He's just loving it! ~Some of her songs range from the popular - "We've Only Just Begun," "Rainy Days and Mondays," "For All We Know," etc., to Karen's most favorite thing in the world-Christmas Music. She recorded her last song, "Now" in April of 1982 - (heard on the album: "Voice of the Heart." (c) 1983) ~Religion-Karen And Richard were methodists. I believe she loved Jesus with all her heart. Just listen to some her Christmas recordings. † ~She loved Christmas and Mickey Mouse like crrrrrrrrrrrrrazy! ~She loved her brother, Richard with all her heart. ~Olivia Newton-John-was Karen's best friend. :) ~When her brother was having treatment for his addiction to sleeping pills, Karen recorded a solo album between the years of 1979 and 1980. It was later shelved. It was released sometime in 1996. However, there are recordings from those sessions that have yet to be released. ~She married Tom Burris in August of 1980. However they divorced, a little over a year later. ~KaReN CaRpEnTeR - God's songstress.
